Thank you for your support to get free music lessons to those in need!

Free Music LessonsI would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who showed up at Coyote Station this past Sunday. You helped us raise enough money to get a few new students into private music lessons. Thank you also to the awesome staff at Coyote Station who came out and worked on their day off in support of our music lesson agenda. I’d also like to give thanks to all of you who weren’t able to make it but showed your support by sending donations or just spreading the word. Every little bit helps and we plan on continuing to make this happen.

Everyone that I had a chance to speak with at the event was very passionate about music and was there to support it. Many people see music and music lessons as extra curricular and not as important as other subjects. Musicians who have had training with music lessons know the discipline that it gives to the individual. We feel that many students out there are in need of a teacher and simply don’t have the money to pay for it. It’s very unfortunate when a child has a deep longing to make something of themselves and they don’t have the tools or the guidance to do it.

Make sure to follow us as we will post pictures and videos showing the progress of our students. Please continue to help out by spreading the word. Sharing our links is a tremendous help. Special Thanks to Bobby McManus, Shotgun Soul, and The Flying Crowbars for outstanding musical performances.

Check back with us for upcoming events and opportunities to get involved. If you wish to volunteer please send us and email using the link in our website menu.

Thank You for helping us provide free music lessons

Music in Detroit

Join us from 1pm-7pm at Coyote Station in St. Clair Shores for a very fun afternoon of live music, raffles, prizes, games, food, beer, and a lot more!  There will be live music performances from Shotgun Soul, The Flying Crowbars, and Bobby McManus. The Detroit Music Initiative is a 501c3 non-profit company that is committed to fund music education for all people whether they can afford to pay for it or not.  Music is a part of so many areas of our lives.  It has been proven repeatedly that music education helps develop the mind in so many ways.  Many schools cut their music programs because it is not “necessary” or so many of the right-brained people think.  We are people from Detroit and are proud of the music in Detroit.  We want to re-instate music in Detroit public and private schools by raising money to pay teachers to teach music in Detroit.  Get on board for this great cause.  Come out and have a good time and donate to this meaningful and worthwhile cause.

Check out the flier and the videos below.  We will also have a foosball, billiards, and dart competitions that day.  Enjoy some NFL Playoff football on the many TV’s at Coyote Station.  If you party too hard on Saturday night don’t worry because you can sleep till noon and come see us at 1pm.  There will be plenty of food to get you going!

Donations received by the Detroit Music Initiative will be used immediately to get lessons for students that cannot afford them.  We know there are many people that are very passionate about music who do not have the proper guidance they need to make themselves better.  We will be documenting our progress continuously on our blog, facebook, and twitter.

Hope to see you all at the party on January 13th!

Detroit Music Initiative Logo

dmilogofinal

The Detroit Music Initiative was founded for the purpose of ensuring opportunity for individuals to study music with professional guidance. Many people have a deep passion for music yet cannot afford the cost of private music instruction. The Detroit Music Initiative intends to create events and programs that help raise money to fund individual teachers and institutions. Individual teachers and institutions receiving funds for teaching will be teaching students enrolled in Detroit Music Initiative’s programs. Our goal is to help those who desire musical training to connect with teachers who are passionate and eager to teach. We will soon have applications for Teachers and Institutions available as well as applications for those looking to take lessons. Students will be awarded a 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% discount on their music lessons depending on income level.

Hello!

The Detroit Music Initiative is getting ready to reveal it’s logo.  Soon after the logo is revealed we will be printing it on T-Shirts with hopes that our fans will want to wear one proudly.  All money collected from T-Shirt sales will go to funding our first program, Music One-on-One.  Music One-on-One is a program that will connect students who cannot afford to pay for their music lessons with teachers of Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, and more.  Details of the Music One-on-One program will be released soon.
